Located
in the close-knit town of Altamont, NY, Michael Gannon and Jerry Oliver
have based their promotions firm on an intense respect for and dedication
to the world of antiques. After 12 years in business, Oliver & Gannon
have expanded from a fledgling promotions company servicing only two shows
a year to a respected resource and partner to events and dealers throughout
the Northeast. Early on, Oliver & Gannon blended altruism and ambition into a business model that focuses on community. They concentrated on putting together fundraising antique shows to benefit non-profit organizations. From day one, they have always absorbed the costs of advertising, promotion, site rental, preparation, administrative expenses, and other line items so that the sponsoring agencies could realize a greater share of the profits. As time went on and their reputation grew, they began to promote shows under their own sponsorship, not giving up sponsorship by outside organizations, but no longer relying solely on it. Having amassed an impressive body of contacts and associations with dealers in the antiquities business, the move to hands-on involvement in sponsoring their events was an obvious one. Oliver & Gannon have cultivated their specialty in antiquarian book and ephemera shows, of which they produce seven events each year. Their flagship shows in these collectibles are the Summer and Winter Westchester Antiquarian Book and Ephemera Fairs, and the semi-annual shows co-sponsored by the Massachusettes and Rhode Island Antiquarian Booksellers. |
